In Ornaisons, close to Narbonne (14 km), Carcassonne (40 km) and the Mediterranean Sea (30 km) you can find our auberge or inn: part of a 19th century inn, located in a typical Southern-French wine village. In this auberge, we have created a nice holiday apartment with 3 rooms for a maximum of 7 people and a studio for a maximum of 4 people. Both entities can be rented together, creating a space for up to 11 people.

Pets are not allowed due to hygienic reasons and allergies.

Why ‘Gekko’?

In summer, these friendly critters crawl around searching for insects. These useful animals were the direct inspiration to name our house. Pour a glass of wine and enjoy the hunting gecko’s. It’s better than television!

Hence the name: Auberge Gekko. With two k’s, because we are Belgian and this is the Dutch way to write it.

In Ornaisons you can find a bakery annex pizzeria annex grocery shop (open 7/7), two more grocery stores, a bar, a tapas bar/pizzeria, a somewhat more expensive restaurant and a lot of wine makers.

At 150 meter from our house, there is a small farm selling their vegetables straight off the land.

You can do nice walks on the Pech hill or sport in the woods. There’s almost weekly an activity in the salle polyvalente.

You can find more restaurants and shops in Lézignan-Corbières and Narbonne, the two closest cities to Ornaisons. Carcassonne (40 km), the Canal du Midi (10 km), Béziers (45 km), the castles of Peyrepertuse and Quéribus (60 km), Minerve, Lagrasse and the Fontfroide Abbey (10 km) are all absolutely stunning. The tens of kilometer long sandy beaches of Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan Plage await you for a day of blissful doing nothing. Actually, a week is too short to visit the region.
